EVD (External Ventricular Drain)

A neurosurgical device consisting of a catheter implanted temporarily into a lateral or into the third ventricle. The catheter is connected through a closed, sterile system to a collection bag. It is designed to drain spinal fluid to reduce intracranial pressure. The catheter may also be used to monitor intracranial pressure directly.
